If you go through a web designer, make sure that you get the passwords that allow you to access your web site. This is important for a couple of reasons. If you are going to be making changes yourself, you'll need these passwords to access your site. If you have a falling out with the web designer, you want to make sure that you're not stuck with a page that you don't like because you don't have the passwords to tell the new designer how to access your site.

Getting your domain name is very easy. There are several places that allow you to check if a domain name has already been taken. We'll do it for you or you can do it yourself. We generally do it through Earthlink. It costs $135 to register a domain name, which includes a registration fee and ownership of the name for two years.

Secure web-hosting service
After you have your domain name, you will have to hire an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to host your web site. Web-hosting services can be very cheap or extremely expensive. This is one place where it's much better to go with a reliable middle-of-the-road company than it is to take the cheapest route. Again, our preference is for Earthlink. Their web-hosting starts at $14.95 per month, and is billed to your credit card each month.
