Steps Involved In Getting A Web Site

Build Your Site Whether through a professional web designer or by doing it yourself, you'll pull together the files that will become your web site. If you go through a web designer, make sure that you get the passwords that allow you to access your web site. This is important for a couple of reasons. If you are going to be making changes yourself, you'll need these passwords to access your site. If you have a falling out with the web designer, you want to make sure that you're not stuck with a page that you don't like because you don't have the passwords to tell the new designer how to access your site. |

Secure A Domain Name (i.e. www.yourcompany.com) Getting your domain name is very easy. There are several places that allow you to check if a domain name has already been taken. We'll do it for you or you can do it yourself. We generally do it through Earthlink. It costs $135 to register a domain name, which includes a registration fee and ownership of the name for two years.

Secure web-hosting service After you have your domain name, you will have to hire an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to host your web site. Web-hosting services can be very cheap or extremely expensive. This is one place where it's much better to go with a reliable middle-of-the-road company than it is to take the cheapest route. Again, our preference is for Earthlink. Their web-hosting starts at $14.95 per month, and is billed to your credit card each month.
